Western Michigan Christian High School and the WMC Athletic Department are excited to announce the hiring of Tyler Ray as the next girls varsity basketball coach.
Tyler Ray is no stranger to the WMC community as he is a 2010 graduate, a 3 time State Champion in basketball and has taught physical education at Grand Haven Christian since he graduated from Cornerstone University in 2014.
“I am beyond excited to have Tyler join our coaching staff here at WMC”, said Athletic Director, Ryan Slack. “To have a guy that has been in our play, and coached in our program already is a huge bonus that Tyler brings to us. I truly believe that Coach Ray will be able to lead our program to a very high level.”.
Coach Ray returns to WMC with former coaching experience at the Freshman level on the boys side for 6 years and Junior Varsity level of 4 years.
When asked about the reason he wanted to return to coaching at WMC he said, “It’s all about the kids. Being in one of the elementary and middle schools, I look forward to being able to build the program from the ground up. Being able to develop a relationship with students while they are just learning how to play basketball is crucial to building a program, and that is what I am excited to be able to do.”
Coach Ray will begin his time with the Warriors during their summer training and team camps as they prepare for the upcoming 2024-2025 Basketball season.
