Warriors Name Sarah Koetsier Girls Varsity Basketball Coach
WMC Athletic Director Ryan Slack is excited that our program is in good hands, “Coach Koetsier will make a smooth transition in our program as she has been our Girls JV coach for the past 4 years and assisted our outgoing coach Jeremy Goorman with the Varsity team. She knows our players and will come in with knowledge of our program and a plan to move forward. It is always beneficial to have a teacher as a coach because of the relationship that our teachers have with our students.”
Coach Koetsier is looking forward to her new role, “I am beyond excited to take on the role as Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Western Michigan Christian. WMC’s basketball program is known for its tradition of excellence and talented, hardworking, Christian athletes. I am honored to continue this program and culture at WMC. Our program starts at Fremont Christian, Grand Haven Christian, Muskegon Christian, and New Era Christian schools and I plan to develop relationships with those athletes and coaches. It is my goal to mentor these players as Christians and help them grow in their faith. I want my players to learn to put God first in their lives and to trust His plan for our lives.”
Sarah began her coaching career as 7th and 8th Basketball Coach at East Grand Rapids Middle School. After moving to McBain, she served as 7th and 8th grade basketball and volleyball coach at Northern Michigan Christian School In Fall 2018, Sarah became high school math teacher at WMC and the Girls JV Basketball Coach. Sarah is a graduate of Calvin Christian High School, where she played basketball.
Coach Koetsier resides in Norton Shores and attends Christ Church in North Muskegon.
