KRISTIN DEYOUNG

DIRECTOR of EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES

“We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”

Mother Teresa

I did a double major in Special Education and Elementary Education at Western Michigan University, with a minor in Integrated Creative Arts.  During my time there, I developed a deep love and passion for Special Education as I worked in Kalamazoo Public Schools, Bay Cliff Health Camp and Hope Network supporting children and adults with various disabilities.  Since then, I have been teaching and volunteering in Germany, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and various parts of Michigan, and traveling around 22 countries and 29 states.  I have taught Special Education, Bilingual intervention, Spanish Immersion and English Language Learners and just love working with and learning from kids in any area!  I am so grateful for this opportunity to use my experiences to serve and support teachers in my new role through the WMCEC!  I am in the process of moving closer to the lakeshore with my husband Dave and our two girls, Kenya (6th grade S.I.) and Amara (Kindergarten S.I.) who both just started at Grand Haven Christian this year.  We are excited to explore and get connected within this new community!

Favorite Scripture:

"I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."

Reading, Yoga, coffee, exploring new places with my family, and  connecting with different cultures through travel and missions (both locally and globally).
