WMC Baseball Coach Mark Hill Steps Aside

Mark Hill departs coaching as 2022 Lakes 8 Conference Champion and Coach of the Year

2022, being our first year on the new field, was a very successful baseball season that included the first conference title since the mid 90’s. As we celebrate a good season, we say goodbye to our coach.

Head baseball coach Mark Hill has decided to step aside from coaching as he has increased administrative duties at the school.

Coach Hill began coaching in 2019 at WMC as an assistant with Coach VanHekken and took over as head coach in 2020 (unfortunately that was the COVID year).  He is credited with helping to establish a solid baseball program at WMC by putting in place a year round strategy of conditioning and skill building. He finishes with an overall record of 28-23 as a head coach including a 17-7 record for the 2022 season and was named the Lakes 8 Coach of the Year.
“Being a head coach at WMC is a unique opportunity because we work to develop young people’s faith through our sports.  That is what I have strived to do as head coach.  We wear the cross on our sleeve or chest as a constant reminder that all the glory and honor goes to our heavenly father.  I hope the young men I have coached can say that I have done that with integrity.  I am humbled to have had this opportunity and will continue to support our baseball program to the fullest.  Go Warriors!”
WMC Athletic Director Ryan Slack will miss Coach Hill, “Mark led our student athletes on and off the field and this showed when they played baseball, were in the classroom or were in the community. He led by example with a Spirit-filled life and leaves our program in good standing and something to build on. He will be missed as a coach.”
