Meet the New Staff 2022-23

Jennifer Dykstra– MS math- Mrs. Dykstra comes to us from Algoma Christian School.  Most recently Mrs. Dykstra taught modified middle school and high school math.  She graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics and Geography.  She is ACSI certified and a WMC graduate.  Not only are we excited to welcome Mrs. Dykstra back to WMC, we are also excited to welcome her two daughters.  

Jessi Dykstra– HS English (11 and 12)- Miss Dykstra is a recent graduate of Calvin University with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English Education.  She is an avid writer and director.

Tesla Hinken– MS science- Mrs. Hinken is a graduate of Bryan College, which is located in Dayton, TN.  She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Health Science and a minor in Business Administration.  She then moved to Michigan and became a Michigan Teacher of Tomorrow.  While in high school and college, Tesla played softball and was the captain of the Bryan College Softball team for her senior season.

Beth Annema-I am returning to WMC this year as the Enrollment coordinator. I have worked at WMC in the past as the athletic secretary and multiple coaching positions. I graduated from Dordt University in 2005 and taught at multiple schools in California, Arizona and Michigan before taking a break from teaching and coaching. My husband, Tim, and I have four children, Tyson, Alex, Devin and Owen, all of which attend Grand Haven Christian and are future Warriors. 

Thadd LeFebre– P.E./health- Mr. LeFebre is a recent graduate of Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois.  He completed a major in Physical Education, Recreation, and Kinesiology with a minor in Education.  Mr. LeFebre is certified to teach Physical Education grades pre-k-12.  While attending Trinity, he was a defender, striker, and forward for the men’s soccer team. 

Ross Peterson- Band- Mr. Peterson will be joining us as our new band director.  He is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a music education degree.  He has spent his summer working at multiple band camps.  He is also known for his DJ-ing skills!

Clyde Rinsema – Interim Principal- Mr. Rinsema joins us this year as our interim principal.  He retired from Pella Christian High School, located in Pella, Iowa, in 2016.  He has graciously been sharing his experiences and wisdom throughout the summer.  We are thrilled to have him help to guide us through this school year.

Cathy Totten – Technology- Mrs. Totten is joining us this year to help us with all our technology needs.  She has worked in technical support for multiple companies.  She is a graduate of Ferris State University with a degree in Computer Information Systems.  She is also a proud new grandmother!

Jake Van Dam– Spanish 1 and 2- Mr. Van Dam is also a recent graduate of Calvin University.  He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education with a major in Spanish and a minor in English.  While in college Mr. Van Dam participated in an immersion experience that involved living with a Peruvian host family and studying at a Peruvian university for five months. 

Stephen White – Bible- Mr. White also joins us from Algoma Christian where he most recently was the Secondary Bible Teacher and Secondary Team Leader.  He worked with both Mrs. Dykstra and Mrs. Newsted while at Algoma Christian.  He holds degrees from Cornerstone University and Dallas Theological Seminary.  He is also certified by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) as a Bible specialist.

Caroline Wiersema– Social work- Mrs. Wiersema will be joining WMC as our All Belong social worker.  She will be available to students 3 days a week for assistance with their individual needs.

Please join us in welcoming these new members to our WMC family.  We are excited to see the Lord’s plan as we all join together to educate your students with excellence, integrate their faith with their knowledge, and equip your students to work and serve Christ in their communities.  God is an Awesome God!

Calvin Glass- Middle School Social Studies/Bible Teacher- Calvin Glass joins the WMC faculty as the Middle School Bible and Social Studies teacher. Mr. Glass grew up in Grand Haven and graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2021 with a Group Social Studies major.  “I am excited to be a part of the WMC team and look forward to modeling Christ-like values in the classroom and encouraging my students to do the same. Social Studies is a subject that interacts heavily with the lives of students to become interested in the world they live in, and to use their faith and beliefs as a lens to understand it and interact with it.” Mr. Glass enjoys disc golf as well as reading historical autobiographies and notes recently read autobiographies by Anne Frank, Winston Churchill and Frederick Douglas as favorites. Calvin resides in Grand Haven with his wife Alanna and daughter Elise.
