WMC Begins the Year with Worship, Classes, and Community Service

WMC began the school year with praise and worship, classes and community service.

Praise and Worship

Our staff lead praise and worship outside on the lawn and Pastor Greer spoke to the entire student body and staff about what it means to be TRANSFORMED. Our theme this year is Rise Up to Transformation based on Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to testand approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Our students then went to class on an abbreviated half-day schedule for an introduction to classes and schedule.

Community Service

Following the half-day class schedule our students completed our opening day community service. Grades 7-9 were on campus doing various activities. Students made cat toys for the Noah Project and do-it-yourself laundry detergent packets to be distributed at their pantry by MOCAP, (Muskegon-Oceana Comunity Action Partnership). They also filled Backpack Blessing food sacks for Love in Action to distribute to children at local schools and made Care Cards to be distributed to patients at Harbor Hospice. Other activities included Back to School Bags to be distributed at Every Woman’s Place, and Craft Kits created for Wellspring. Grades 10-12 went off campus to clean up vacant lots for Americorps, lay mulch, tend garden and general cleanup for Love in Action, and general cleanup for the new Boys and Girls Club facility in Muskegon.

WMC Principal Samuel Greer was excited to start the new school year, “It is a blessing to start our year delivering our mission to educate with excellence, integrate faith with knowledge and equip students to work and serve Christ in their communities. I look forward to a great school year.”
