Western Michigan Christian High School and the WMC Athletic Department are excited to announce the hiring of Matt Haveman as the next boys varsity basketball coach.
Matt Haveman is no stranger to the WMC community as he has coached the boys Junior Varsity team the last two seasons. Matt and his family are also supporters of Christian education as he has two children that are currently enrolled at WMC.
“We are ecstatic to have Coach Haveman be the next head coach of our program”, said Athletic Director, Ryan Slack. “Our basketball program is one of the most historic and successful programs in the entire state of Michigan. We believe Coach Haveman is the person that will bring us back to being a powerhouse for basketball here on the lakeshore.”
Coach Haveman comes to WMC with former coaching experience at the high school level where he had stints at Fennville High School and was an assistant coach at Holland Public Schools.
When asked about the reason he applied for the job at WMC he said “The relationship that I have been able to build with student athletes in my two years here, is something I want to be a part of for a long time, not just with these students but with every Warrior that walks through our gym doors.”
Coach Haveman will begin his time with the Warriors during summer training and team camps this summer as they prepare for the upcoming 2024-2025 Basketball season.
